The Hypnotherapy Register began life in 1973 when it was added to the title of the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP) in order to allow Hypnotherapists to join the organisation. In 1993, as an initiative of the Secretary, and with full committee approval, the Hypnotherapy Register (HR) became semi-autonomous. Later, NCP members voted to grant autonomy to the Hypnotherapy Register.http://www.natcouncilofpsychotherapists.org.uk/
The National Council for Hypnotherapy
(NCH), was the new name chosen to represent this organisation, which
also incorporated the former Hypnotherapy Register in order to reflect
both the image of the new body and the history of the Hypnotherapy Register.
Thus, the NCH (including The HR) became an independent body in June
1996. http://www.hypnotherapists.org.uk/
